Best twenty-four bucks we ever rolled.

Are sex dice worth it? An honest review from a Tuesday night

I was sent this by Do Me Erotic. The Tuesday was mine.

We rolled them on a Tuesday for no particular reason, which is genuinely the best review I can give them.

Short version: worth it if you want a low-effort way to break routine, not worth it if you're hoping a game fixes something bigger. There's no setup and nothing to learn. What you're paying for is not having to be the one who suggests something.

What do you actually get?

Dice for actions, body parts and locations, instructions, and a box that doesn't announce itself on a shelf. No app, no subscription, nothing to charge. I want to be clear that this is a small object in a small box, and if you're expecting more than that you'll be disappointed by the parcel.

So it's a gimmick, right?

Completely. I'm not going to pretend otherwise.

But I'd been in that stretch where neither of us was bored exactly, we just kept defaulting to the same evening. We didn't need ideas. We needed a way to bring one up without it turning into A Conversation About Our Relationship. A random roll skips that entirely, and I underestimated how much that mattered.

When wouldn't I bother?

If the sameness you're trying to break is a symptom of something else, dice aren't the tool and I'd be lying if I said otherwise.

And if being told what to do feels like more pressure rather than less, this will land badly for you. Some people want spontaneity, not instructions. That's a preference, not a flaw, and I know at least two people it would be wasted on.

Does the novelty last?

No, and anyone saying otherwise is selling harder than I am.

It was a handful of nights, then it went back in the drawer. That's not a complaint. It's still in the drawer, and it did the job it was there to do. Judged as an occasional reset rather than a new hobby, it holds up fine.

Does it travel?

Yes, and this is the underrated bit. It's small and the packaging is deliberately unremarkable, so it goes in a weekend bag without any conversation at the other end. It's been on two trips since the Tuesday.

Who should skip it?

Anyone who wants something more structured, and anyone buying for a person they don't know well enough to be sure they'd find it funny. It's a confident gift for the right person and a genuinely awkward one for the wrong person, so read the room.

Questions I got asked afterwards

What do they actually do?

You roll and get a random combination of an action, a body part and a location as a prompt.

Is there setup?

None. Open the box and roll. Instructions are included but it's immediate.

Good for new couples?

Probably better for new couples than for us, honestly. The random prompt breaks the ice without anyone having to state a preference first.

Is the packaging discreet?

Yes, for both storage and travel.
